Arsenal appears to have begun negotiations to acquire Slovenian national team forward Benjamin Scheszko, who plays for Leipzig. The UK's Daily Mail reported on the 30th.
Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons, is rumored to be reinforced in the front line this summer's transfer market. He is currently interested in Swedish national team forward Victor Gjekeres, who is currently producing scores with Schesko and Sporting.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Arsenal has held its first talks to acquire Sheshko. It has been revealed that Leipzig is seeking a transfer fee of £75 million (about 14.5 billion yen), and it is reported that Arsenal's Sporting Director Andrea Berta and Leipzig's MD Marcel Schaefer (managing director) had a meeting with him on the total transfer.
Manager Arteta has also previously suggested that he will invest a lot of money this summer, commenting, “When building a house, it's inevitably expensive. That's common, and we prepare various scenarios, but there can be uncertainties. We have a budget.” In order to bring about a greater attacking position, they may offer a transfer fee that is closer to Leipzig's desired amount.
Szeszko, currently 21 years old, joined Salzburg, Austria in the summer of 2019, and moved to Leipzig, the same Red Bull group, in the summer of 2023. This season he has played in 45 official matches, earning 21 goals and six assists.
