On July 13th, WWE will hold the second PLE/Evolution for female players only.

After the first tournament was held in 2018, many players from the arts field wanted a comeback, but for various reasons (rumors that he would never make a comeback, Ronda Rousey refused to make a comeback, etc.), the story did not move forward.

Meanwhile, in 2025, movements towards a revival began to be reported, and the event was finally officially announced. It may seem like very positive news…but the voices on the ground are complicated.

Fightful said the players' reactions are clearly divided between pros and cons. The background to this is the dissatisfaction over the production of the first tournament, as well as the distrust that this revival was the top secret.

Dissatisfaction with the first tournament

The first tournament in 2018 was a show that will go down in the history of the pro wrestling world as a PLE, where only female players competed, and fans were well received.

However, on the scene, there are criticisms of the finale production… where the participating players gathered on stage and had curtain calls, saying, “There's no way male players would do that.”

Revival without prior notice at the site

Regarding the revival of Evolution, it has been reported that it will be revived from around April 2025.

However, until the official announcement that the event will be held on July 13th, only one legend, one of the top players, had known about this matter in advance. Without any contact with the other players, they apparently found out that they had revived on the news, just like the fans.

It is said that some players are distrustful of this.

The same day as Beyoncé's concert

Another athlete is concerned that as global musician Beyoncé will be holding a concert in the same area on the same day, it will affect ticket sales and hotel prices, which will contribute to the failure.

He said, “If this show fails, it could be rated as “The female player-only PLE is not the best, so there's no need to hold it.” Mickey James, who participated in the first tournament, later said, “That tournament was designed to fail.”

In this way, there are also voices of concern within the event of the Evolution. However, one veteran player expressed his hopes, saying, “This is a great opportunity for players who don't normally appear on TV. I hope WWE will promote it thoroughly.” The show was a success and will it be possible to leave good news for the next tournament?
