Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez once built a golden age in Barcelona and are now teaming up at Inter Miami in MLS (USA).
It seems that the famous duo has embarked on a new challenge off the pitch.
ESPN reported on the 28th that Suarez has established a soccer club in his home country of Uruguay and that Messi will join the project.
Suarez posted a video on his social media and announced that he would be joining the Uruguay fourth division club, Deportivo LS, which was established in 2018, by renaming the club Deportivo LSM, which was newly formed as Deportivo LSM.
“Deportivo LS is a family dream that began in 2018. I've grown to have more than 3,000 members. I want to provide opportunities for young people and children to grow in the Uruguayan soccer I loved,” Suarez said in the video.
Messi also appeared in the video, commenting, “I'm proud and happy that you chose me. I want to provide everything I can to ensure that this project grows even further. And most importantly, I'm happy to be by my side.”
It seems that it has not been revealed at this time what role Messi will play in this project.
It has also been reported that former player Alvaro Recova, who played for the Uruguay national team and Inter Milan, will be appointed as the club's manager.
The club's official Instagram account, which was opened at the same time as the project was announced, has surpassed 40,000 followers in just two hours since its launch.
The momentum has not stopped since then, and now it has attracted great interest from fans around the world, with over 300,000 people.
We'll be looking forward to the new challenges of the two, who have shown outstanding combinations on the pitch.
