It appears that Barcelona is approaching an extension of their contract with Spanish national team forward Lamin Yamal. On the 26th, several Spanish media outlets, including Marca and Ass, reported this.

Yamal's current contract is until the end of June 2026, but it appears that the contract extension is now decisive. According to reports, after meeting with Georges Mendes, the player's representative, Barcelona has reached an agreement to sign a new contract by the end of June 2031. All work has been completed and is expected to be officially announced by the club soon.

The new contract will be effective on July 13th this year, his 18th birthday, and Yamal will become one of the team's most paid players. Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist who is well-versed in the transfer market, also reported that the player has reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign a new contract by the end of June 2031.

Yamal, born on July 13, 2007 and currently 17 years old, is from Barcelona's youth academy and made his first team debut at the age of 15 under club “legend” Xavi Hernandez. He has grown into the main focus of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, and from last year to this year he has won numerous young awards, including the Copa Trophy, known as the young version of the Ballon d'Or, the Laureus World Sports Award, which is considered the Academy Award in the sports world, and the Golden Boy Award.

In the 2024-25 season, he played in a total of 55 official matches, earning 18 goals and 25 assists. He formed a strong tridente with Polish national team forward Robert Lewandowski and Brazilian national team forward Hafina, making a significant contribution to Barcelona's domestic triple crown. Although he is 17 years old, the number of official matches calculated at the club has reached 106.
