Wins against Kashima at home

It's a big win that finally breaks out of the long tunnel.

On May 25th, Yokohama F. Marinos faced Kashima Antlers at home in the 18th round of the J1 League. FW Jan Mateus scored two goals and won the 3-1 victory. He stopped the club's worst seven-game losing streak, earning his first win in 12 games since the match against Gamba Osaka on March 16th (2-0).

Both of the J League “Original 10” who have never experienced relegation, faced off in a head-to-head situation, with one side losing seven consecutive times and the other side winning seven consecutive times, with the lead.

Yokohama FM, who is at the end of his four home games in a row, will have two starting players swapped in the previous match against Vissel Kobe (1-2). FW Miyaichi Ryo, who was announced to be out due to a strain on his left hamstring, was replaced by defender Sandy Walsh, who was substituted in the final minutes, and forward Tono Daiya and defender Thomas Deng were appointed. Kashima also changed three starting players from the previous game, and forward Leo Cerara, who is at the top of the goal rank, has returned to starting pitcher.

In the 4th minute of the first half of the first half, the game began, Yokohama FM attacked quickly with goalkeeper Iikura Daiki's feed, and in the end, defender Nagato Katsuya, who was playing against his former club, kicked the ball out of the clear ball with his right foot to take the lead.

Yokohama FM gained momentum with his first goal since the 12th round of the J1 match against Shimizu S-Pulse (2-3) on April 16th, and in the 13th minute, he scored an additional goal with Jan Mateus' left foot. In the 27th minute, Mateus again sank an accurate control shot that determined the goalkeeper's position into the left corner of the goal, further expanding his lead.

After that, Kashima made many scenes where he attacked the ball all the way to the front of the goal, and in the 36th minute, Rare Ceara gave his 10th goal of the season. Still, his physically determined defense did not give any more points, and the whistle ended the game 3-1. Unable to grasp the opportunity to emerge, Tricolor, who had struggled in the last place, won a big big win. (Ryo Ishikawa)
