The 18th round of the 2025 Meiji Yasuda J1 League was held on the 25th, with Yokohama F. Marinos and Kashima Antlers facing off against each other.
Only the J-League Original 10 have not been relegated, but their results this season are in contrast. Yokohama FM, who has been in the bottom of the club's first seven consecutive losses in a row, has taken on the lead with seven consecutive wins, to Nissan Stadium.
The match balance was broken in the fourth minute, Yokohama FM managed to score the lead. Nagato Katsuya responded to a loose ball in the penalty area and swung his right foot, and a sharp shot was sucked into the bottom right of the goal.
Yokohama FM extended their lead in the 13th minute. Kida Takuya sent a vertical pass, and Anderson Lopez and Yamane Riku connected with one touch, and the ball passed to Jan Mateus on the right of the penalty area. Jan Mateus drove into the bottom left of the goal with his left foot.
After that, Kashima responded, but Yokohama FM also scored the next goal. Jan Mateus received a pass from A. Lopez just before the penalty area, and calmly fired a control shot, sinking a clear shot to the top left of the goal.
Kashima continues to attack fiercely, but scores one point in the 36th minute. Araki Ryotaro retrieves the missing ball from the cross sent by Suzuki Yuma from the left, and then returns to the front of the goal. Leo Ceara fitted it and pushed it in.
Kashima, who was behind with a two-point defence, did not slow down his offensive efforts in the second half, but Yokohama FM's defensive team also kept the focus down. The match ended in the second half with no scores moving, with Yokohama FM winning their first win in 12 league matches and Kashima losing their first loss in eight games.
The next match will be held on the 31st, with Yokohama FM facing FC Machida Zelvia on enemy territory, and Kashima will face Gamba Osaka on enemy territory.
