Former Japanese national team defender Muroya Sei (formerly German second division Hanover), who was announced to return to his former club, FC Tokyo after five seasons on the 23rd, responded to a press conference at the National Stadium, where the FC Tokyo and Hiroshima match will take place on the 25th.

The fullback, who played in a total of 108 games (scored two goals) for FC Tokyo from 2016 to August 2020, has played in Germany for five years, making a total of 142 games (scoring five goals). It will be registered during the special registration period set up between June 1st and 10th. His jersey number has been decided to be the 2, which he once wore at FC Tokyo, and is aiming to make his debut at the early 14th of June in the match against Cerezo Osaka (Aji Star).

Muroya's main questions and answers are as follows.

-He has decided to return, and what is his current state of mind?

“It's been a while since I returned, and I went to the training field to say hello to him, but it made me feel nostalgic. I became a professional at FC Tokyo, so I feel like I'm an honor to be able to play again there.”

-The part where he grew after playing in Germany for five years.

“While there is only one Japanese person, I have been working on various ways to survive in order to compete in the team and compete in matches. While I had a lot of time thinking about myself and staring at myself, I have developed the ability to think mentally as a person.”

-Memories and feelings of Germany.

“It was the culture of German football, or rather the passion of its supporters. I was really moved by the power I felt when I was on the pitch. I felt that Japan would hopefully become that way.”

-Why did you decide to return to FC Tokyo?

“First of all, we kept in touch even after I transferred. The people in the FC Tokyo training club were always concerned. Personally, I thought I would be the most happy to be able to return to Tokyo, but the timing was right. The person in the FC Tokyo team went out of their way to Hanover and said they wanted me to be. I really felt that passionateness and a desire to really support the team. I also felt a strong desire to return to FC Tokyo and be a source of strength.”

–The team is struggling, finishing 17th in J1.

“I think everyone knew that it would be a season that wouldn't be easy to become a new manager and have a lot of young players in new formations (in the circumstances) and try a lot of different challenges. I think it was time to create some kind of opportunity. In that situation, I will join the team, so I have to get used to the J.League environment and style. I have played a lot of games, so I think I have the feeling that I have a sense of how to win games to some extent, so I want to first become familiar with the team and the league and play in such a way that the team can win. I think I'll be able to show off my playing in the game. I think I can lead in that kind of aspect.”

-To FC Tokyo's fan supporters.

“I'm happy to be able to come back, but at the same time I also have the responsibility to have solid results. I want to make sure I can live up to my expectations. I think I'm a player who can show me an attitude of fighting on the pitch, so I want to play in a way that makes me excited when I watch.”
