A 20-year-old young athlete who grew up in an old-fashioned vineyard dies… a tragedy caused by a motorcycle accident

Spanish newspaper La Razón reported on the 18th that Joel Giraldo Gonzalez (20), a member of the youth team of Spanish second division Real Oviedo, died in a motorcycle accident.
According to the newspaper, he was killed in a traffic accident in Cabranes, Spain on the 17th of this month.
The accident occurred at 11km on the highway connecting Infiesto (Pilronha) and Villaviciosa (AS-255).
Gonzalez was riding a large Honda CBR600 motorcycle and heading towards the capital of Villaviciosa. It is suggested that Gonzalez lost control of his bike, deviated into an oncoming lane and collided with a caravan (camper van).
The caravan's occupants were unharmed, but major damage occurred to the front of the vehicle.
A very fast winger and one of the outstanding players of that generation, Gonzalez played 25 games for Paco Fernandez's Under-19 A team. He left Real Oviedo in the summer of 2023 and moved to Covadonga, but is now unaffiliated.

Real Oviedo posted on social media that he was “deeply sorry about the passing of Joel Giraldo Gonzalez, who was from our youth organization.”
