On May 23, B League announced that in cooperation with the Slam Dunk Scholarship, jointly run by manga artist Inoue Takehiko and Shueisha, it will implement the B.DUNK KIDS PROJECT, which will train future basketball players for elementary school students across the country.
This project, which is being held for the third time this year, will host a basketball clinic with the cooperation of B League clubs across the country to expand the possibilities for children working on basketball or children who are experiencing the sport for the first time. The content includes scholars who gained experience overseas through the “Slam Dunk Scholarship” and active B League players as lecturers, conveying the appeal of basketball to children.
The first round, which will begin accepting applications on the special website from May 30th, will be held at Ariake Arena, where the men's Japan national team vs. the Netherlands national team will be held on July 5th, and will include tickets to watch the match. The second round, which will be held from mid-July, will be held by B League clubs all over the country.
Regarding the holding of this year's project, B League, Inoue Takehiko and Shueisha issued the following comments:
▼B League
“We are very pleased that many children were able to participate last year, and that similar efforts will be implemented this year. The popularity of basketball players has been increasing, with children becoming ranked in the professions they dream of, but we hope that more children will be able to participate in B.DUNK KIDS PROJECT, which will develop players of the future, will learn about basketball, and will be able to see its appeal.”

“Next year has been the start of the B League, and basketball has become a fun time for many people all over Japan, as B League clubs have been established all over the country. This summer, B.DUNK will be held again. This is the best chance for children who want to try basketball. Children who want to get better at basketball and want to learn from B League players, so please enjoy the fun of basketball at B.DUNK.”
▼Shueisha
“This year marks the 19th time this Slam Dunk Scholarship, launched with this one word by Inoue Takehiko, who has been launched with this one word. With the cooperation of its graduates, B.DUNK KIDS PROJECT, which was launched with the B League as a place to provide children with the opportunity to encounter basketball, with the help of its graduates, will mark its third time. About 1,200 children have participated in the past two years. They are interested in basketball, but have never done it. I want to let my children play basketball, but they have no opportunity to let them do it. I sincerely hope that this project will be an opportunity for children and parents to be exposed to basketball.”
