It seems that criticism is being drawn to the American women's soccer world.

On the 19th, Reuters reported on Angel City's U-20 US women's national team defender Savie King, who suddenly collapsed during a match and underwent heart surgery.

The NWSL (US Women's League) match between Angel City and Utah Royals was held on the 9th. In the 29th minute of the second half, King suddenly collapsed onto the pitch and was carried on a stretcher after a 10-minute CPR procedure.

The match resumed soon, with Angel City winning 2-0, but this response has been attracting criticism.

The NWSL later admitted that “the match should have been cancelled,” and NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman said, “We will have a clear policy to cancel the match in the future if a similar case occurs.”

King was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles, but survived, but found an abnormality in his heart and underwent surgery on the 14th. He was discharged from the hospital on the 18th and is currently undergoing treatment at home with his family.

The player successfully completed his heart surgery, said on the 19th, “I can't put into words how much your love and support have supported me over the past few days. I am truly grateful to my family, my teammates for praying, my fans, the soccer community, and my medical team who saved my life.”

In a statement, the club also expressed gratitude to medical professionals and full support from the players.

King is a center back with a wealth of track record for women's national teams by generation, and has played in eight league games so far this season. It is hoped that the talent who will be responsible for the future of American women's soccer will recover and return in the future.
