Sani Brown Hakim, who has a personal record of 9.96 seconds in the men's 100m track and field, responded to interviews on the 20th before leaving the country to the US, where he is the training base, and expressed his desire to hold the World Championships to be held in Tokyo in September.
Sani Brown missed the Seiko Golden Grand Prix the other day after a tight spot on his left hamstring. He canceled his appearance because he focused on the World Championships. He expressed his regret that he missed the show, saying, “I wanted to run in front of everyone, but I held back,” and revealed his intention to participate in the Diamond League, which will be held in Rome, Italy on June 6th, and expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I want to get back in condition and prepare.”
Sani Brown recently visited two elementary schools to promote track and field sports, and revealed that he was feeling a sense of crisis about the development and survival of the sport. He said that the world championships will be held in Tokyo, “It's not only important to think about what will happen in the track and field and sports world after that. I hope that athletes in Japan will take the initiative to show off what they're doing in Tokyo and interact with the children, and together they can liven up the entire track and field world.”
He also expressed his hope that by becoming active in the tournament, he would be an opportunity to grow to the point where he can stand on the shoulders of soccer and baseball.
For this reason, there are high expectations for Sani Brown. What is required is to win three consecutive tournaments, and even more so, win a medal as the first Japanese person to win. If that long-cherished goal is achieved, it will have a huge impact on the Japanese athletics and field world.
