Sir Dave Brailsford, Sir Jim Radcliffe’s right-hand man, has left Manchester United.
Brailsford scaled back his involvement at United last year but remained on the club board. However, it has now been confirmed that he has left the club altogether.
He remains a close advisor to Ratcliffe and continues in his role as Ineos’s director of sport. Ratcliffe installed Brailsford at United after he bought a minority stake in the club and took over football operations in December 2023.
Brailsfield, 62, was heavily involved in setting up the new leadership team behind the scenes at Old Trafford, including the hiring of chief executive Omar Berrada.
Despite having no background in football, Brailsford spent a year in charge of football operations at United. His time in the position did not go well, with United finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final to miss out on European football altogether.
