Manchester United could sell as many as 10 players in the summer, with INEOS reportedly holding talks over a potential mass exodus. The Red Devils are likely to oversee a hectic post-season with a new permanent manager at the helm. Michael Carrick has made a convincing case to be handed the role on a full-time basis but United chiefs are still believed to be considering their options.
In any case, it will be a busy summer for United as they look to build on their promising form next season. They are said to be eyeing the additions of two central midfielders, with the likes of Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba having been linked. At least one new attacker could also be targeted, with Morgan Rogers thought to be among the players United are looking at.
As well as incomings, a number of players are expected to leave Old Trafford and their squad could look very different at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
That’s because INEOS are weighing up the possibility of losing up to 10 players between now and next season, according to The Sun.
The report claims that Andre Onana, Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte will be free to find new clubs. Onana and Rashford have been spending the current season on loan at Trabzonspor and Barcelona respectively.
Trabzonspor are reportedly keen on signing Onana permanently, while Barcelona have the option to buy Rashford for around £26million but are thought to have cooled their interest in recent months.
Zirkzee and Ugarte, meanwhile, have reportedly been deemed surplus to requirements after struggling to make an impact for United this season.
It’s claimed that INEOS will look to sell Zirkzee for around £22m to avoid a loss under the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
An option could be to negotiate a season-long loan with an interested club that would include an obligation to buy, as they did with Rasmus Hojlund and Napoli last summer.
Ugarte will reportedly be available for around £25m, though United may struggle to find a buyer at that price given how poor the 25-year-old has been over the last two seasons.
Altay Bayindir is expected to join Besiktas, while United could also cash in on academy midfielder Toby Collyer, who will be out of contract next year and is currently on loan at Hull City.
Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia will all be released in the summer while Tyler Fredricson may also be let go, with his contract up in June.
He was given his debut by Ruben Amorim last season but has struggled to make an impact at senior level and was linked with a move to Celtic in January. Whether or not the Scottish giants will return to the table in the coming months remains to be seen.
