The Chinese fighter was originally going to debut in MMA on August 3 of last year in Combat Night MMA against Xiomara Lee, but the fight was postponed when Lei Ying read contracted the COVID-19. It is currently not clear if they will face again in the future, but according to the specialized website, Tapology.com, Xiomara does not compete since 2022 and currently has a 1-0-0 record. Outside MMA and TNA, Lei Ying Lee has also competed in the independent circuit.
It remains to be seen the success that will achieve in TNA Wrestling, but so far he has won seven of his twelve fighting in the company, largely maintaining the image and wrestling style he had in WWE at the time of his dismissal. His successful foray into the MMA could allow Lei Ying to legitimize his character.
