Roberto De Zerbi’s stance on joining Tottenham immediately in dream scenario | Football | Sport

De Zerbi is presently without a club, having left Marseille in February. And according to Sky in Italy, the 46-year-old is not averse to the prospect of returning to the Premier League. This emerges despite reports last week suggesting De Zerbi had distanced himself from potentially taking on a new role until the start of next season, giving himself breathing space to weigh up his options.

However, it now appears the Italian has had a sudden change of heart, and could play a crucial role in helping Spurs stave off relegation from the Premier League in 2025/26.

At the time of writing, the Lilywhites sit 17th in the table, just a single point above the relegation zone with seven fixtures remaining.

Their next outing takes the form of a challenging away trip to the Stadium of Light to face an in-form Sunderland AFC on Sunday, April 12.

Having managed Brighton between 2022 and 2024, De Zerbi is well acquainted with the demands and pressures of English top-flight football.

Nevertheless, his recent record at Marseille could prove a stumbling block, particularly given Spurs’ current dire straits.

The north Londoners have managed a mere seven victories throughout the entire season, their most recent being a 1-0 triumph over Crystal Palace back in late December.

It follows Spurs’ announcement that Tudor had departed the club on Sunday afternoon.

A statement confirming the news read: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect.

“Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of goalkeeping coach and physical coach.

“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.

“An update on a new head coach will be provided in due course.”
