An air ambulance rushed to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to deal with a medical incident ahead of Monday’s fixture between Reading and Lincoln City. The match, which could see Lincoln seal promotion to the Championship, is scheduled to begin at 3pm this afternoon. However, a medical incident several hours before kick-off saw an emergency response called into action.
In a statement, Reading said: “We are currently assisting with a medical incident at the stadium, with the air ambulance in attendance. There is no impact on today’s fixture. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
Reading were expecting their biggest crowd of the season to date for the fixture, with both teams in contention to earn promotion from League One.
The hosts are currently sixth in the table and will be looking to secure a play-off place between now and the end of the campaign.
Lincoln, meanwhile, have dominated for much of the season and now find themselves on the verge of a historic promotion to the Championship.
A draw at the Select Car Leasing Stadium would be enough to seal the deal, ensuring they will play second-tier football next season for the first time since 1961.
Lincoln put themselves on the brink of glory on Friday, with Ryan One scoring a late winner against Wimbledon to set them up for a potential promotion party on Easter Monday.
Speaking ahead of the game against Reading, manager Michael Skubala said: “It’s not for me to dream. That’s for the fans. For me, it’s to keep focused.
“Keep the group focused, keep the staff focused, which we are. We’re humble, we’re hard working and it sounds great (but) we just want to win the next game, honestly.”
